An additional qualification is always a plus point for any career path. For finance, having knowledge in specific fields can work wonders. It is important to stay updated and know all the nooks and crannies to unleash your full potential and attract employers to you.

You can choose to work, or study and finish these 5 finance certifications as a part time venture

#1: Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) certification

Regarded as one of the top certifications in the finance domain, the CFA designation is one of the most sought after. The whole of the certification has about three level and takes three to four years for completion.

The certification deal with portfolio management and investment analysis and includes topics such as ethical and professional standards, equity, fixed income, derivatives, corporate finance, financial reporting and analysis and so on.

It is a must have certification for job profiles such as equity research and asset management and the pass rate is below 20%. Individuals are tested for their knowledge in finance and aptitude.

#2: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification

If you want to pursue a career in accounting, this certification is essential. It is a gold standard and one of the most prized in the finance domain. Although this is a long journey to accomplish, it can make you reach great heights in your professional path.

The focus of this certification is auditing and attestation, financial accounting and reporting, business environment and concepts. It does not fully focus on the genre of corporate finance.

#3: Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designation

A wonderful program for areas such as managing alternative investments which entail, private equity, real assets, and hedge funds, focuses on the niche financial methods.

If you are someone who is interested un asset management or working in hedge fund industries, CAIA is the perfect fir for you.

The key topics incorporated in this certification are  hedge funds, ethics,  real assets,  private equity , asset allocation, and risk management. 

However, it is a focused certification and does not encounter a lot of topics in finance.

#5: Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation

A CFP course will make you stand out of the crowd in the field of retail banking, wealth management and private banking. Investment and wealth management are one of the most sought after careers and this certification can help make a mark.

With a prime focus on financial planning, you can easily seek high net worth clients for investment management.

#6: Financial Risk Manager (FRM) certification

You can choose a certification in FRM if you want a career in risk management. Although it a very specific career choice, but jobs such as risk officers, risk analysts, and several other spots in risk management will be yours with this certification.

It is fairly new course and has not yet earned the reputation which CFA or CPA have as globally accepted certifications, however, you can pursue it as a targeted course in risk management.

Financial Modelling & Valuation Analyst (FMVA) certification for people interested in banking & equity research.

Certified Credit Professional (CCP) for jobs in credit departments across all sectors.
